Water quality in poultry farms

How does water quality affect farm productivity?

  • low weights
  • Intestinal problems
  • high mortalities
  • low egg production
  • Birds with low pigment

The intensity of current production requires a detailed knowledge of all the factors that interact with the animals, and water is a vital element for any production.

Poultry water is a key administration route. Birds, when they are going through a clinical picture, generally stop consuming food, but maintain their water intake, this allows us to use it as a therapeutic way to reverse the process.

The control of the chemical and microbiological parameters must be carried out periodically, as well as in situations in which the morbidity or mortality of our exploitation increases.

The profitability of the system can be affected by poor water quality, since it can cause damage to pipes and equipment.

Knowing and assessing water quality allows us to improve zootechnical parameters, health and the economy of the farm.
